Happy Birthday to Us

Exactly one year ago, we started this blog. The goal was to put up one post per week, and to date, there have been 88 posts.

Unfortunately, there have only been 96 comments despite the fact hundreds of people subscribe to our feed and we get thousands of hits each month. The new goal is to encourage more comments.

Any suggestions on how we do that?

Great blog – sorry I dont comment because I have no legal expertise. Just enjoy learning.

Twitter is also something I’ve resisted but I’m going to look into. Thanks for the input!

More seriously, I agree with Chris. I’ve found your discussions of various rabbit holes your clients fall into very interesting, and I (as a non-lawyer) find your writing style very readable and interesting.

I’ve only commented a few times, because I think your blog posts tend to be more complete essays than the open ended questions other blogs raise. Take a look at the volokh conspiracy for example; relatively few posts there are as complete as yours; and the posts that are complete are about controverisal issues so they get comments anyway.

I appreciate all of the kind comments. I’ve been worried that the traffic stats (which are modest in the grand scheme of things but impressive to me) are wrong, so it’s good to know that people do read it.

Starting a Twitter feed is an interesting idea, but for some unknown reason, I’ve been doing my best to avoid Twitter in general. Maybe I just don’t like things that are popular…

    Congrats!
Don’t take a lack of comments as meaning the information isn’t valuable. I check this blog every morning.

As a law interested layperson. I’ve not commented as I’m not sure I can add much value.

Your blog in many instances tends to be very technical. While great for learning, it isn’t conducive to a discussion in comments.

    Happy Birthday!

I notice a lot of the posts here don’t ask many questions but pose thoughts on how trials, judges, and the judicial process works. Having questions posted at the end (like this one) will help. I also think you should set up a Twitter feed. A lot easier to reply to @brownandlittle for example then having to put in my name, email, website and post.

Idea: Free DUI defense to first ten commenters!

Happy Birthday, dudes. Congrats on a great blog!

I don’t have any great ideas on how to get more people to comment. What’s your traffic like?
