Articulation Agreement Degree

The North Carolina Comprehensive Liaison Agreement (CAA) is a national credit transfer agreement between NC Community Colleges and NC Public Universities and aims to move students smoothly. Price indexation differs from the process of accepting credits acquired by one institution from another institution, depending on its degree requirements, i.e. “credit transfer.” For example, a university may count university credit units acquired at a community school on their minimum number of units for a bachelor`s degree. But it may not treat some previously taken courses as well as their own specific course requirements for a certain major or concentration at that level, if the articulation process shows that the other institution`s programs are not or not as strict as their own curricula. In the latter situation, a reductive student may find that he can only graduate after taking courses in the second institution, which partially overlap or repeat the material he has studied before at the first university. When it comes to specific schools that develop articulation agreements, they are usually taken between institutions located in a given geographical area. They can also be established between public colleges and four-year-old institutions with the same public higher education system. Both schools use the articulation agreement to promote ease of portability, to attract students to both institutions – it is a mutually beneficial relationship. To ensure these mutual benefits, most articulation agreements set a deadline for receipt and students must finalize the program or risk losing credits.

On the other hand, transfer agreements simplify the complexity of the course definition. You should eliminate the conjecture work on portability. Joint agreements are designed to save students time and money, an important advantage in dealing with the rising cost of higher education alternatives. The launch of a community college may be due, among other things, to financial reasons to explore career opportunities, flexible schedules, career interests, or to deal with the best way to manage low academic degrees. However, in today`s competitive labour market, many of us choose at some point to continue our training beyond a two-year program. Checking the articulation agreements available with four-year institutions before investing a lot of time in courses is a smart step to work early in your academic career, if you know that at some point you need or want to graduate from four years. These agreements help to open the lines of communication between the community school and the four-year institution in order to develop the details of what transfer students need to know. In some schools, articulation agreements are referred to as transfer agreements or transfer guides, but the founding principle is the same: give students a step-by-step guide to meet the necessary course requirements and transfer credits to another school.
